The new series is set to delve deep into celebrity family ancestry, uncovering a host of hidden pasts and shock revelations.

The series will see author of the bestselling Harry Potter series, JK Rowling investigate her late mother’s French ancestry. Beginning her hunt in Edinburgh, Rowling’s search takes her far and wide, from The Savoy in London, to once bloody battlefields and the back streets of urban Paris.

National treasure June Brown, loved for her role as busy-body Dot Cotton in EastEnders, is the oldest person to ever take part in Who Do You Think You Are? During her search to discover if she's a real Eastender, she unravels her Jewish heritage, visiting London, Amsterdam and landing in Spain, to uncover extraordinary acts of bravery and terrible tragedy.

This year’s stories uncover a wealth of intriguing and surprising circumstances including one of the bloodiest ever massacres on American soil, and cases of illegitimacy, slavery and baby borrowing.  One of the ten stumbles upon a mysterious name change and another unearths the family mystery behind a mother’s adoption.  Elsewhere, a rags to riches tale throws up more questions and a secret file is opened for the first time.

Wall to Wall’s eighth series boasts an all star cast comprising: the world’s most successful living author JK Rowling, soap icon June Brown, comedian Alan Carr, former athlete and London 2012 Chairman Sebastian Coe, Gavin and Stacey star Larry Lamb, Silent Witness actress Emilia Fox, broadcaster Richard Madeley, leading Strictly Come Dancing judge Len Goodman, Brit artist Tracey Emin and Bee Gees singer Robin Gibb
