Child Genius is a landmark, longitudinal documentary that observes the lives of gifted children and their families to discover what it is like to be exceptionally gifted and talented in modern Britain.
Previously, three films have been made. The first film, 90 minutes in length, introduced our brilliant young children and their families. Two subsequent episodes of an hour were then made to follow up the progress of the children featured in the first film. More recently, the fourth hour long film provides an update on the lives of the children featured in the previous films, as well as introducing a new group of gifted children who have come forward since the previous films were made.
In the first film we learned about each child and their talent. The two follow up films gave an update of each child’s day-to-day lives – including meeting their siblings, friends and families. The third follow up film, examines several bigger questions about what it means to be a 'child genius' in 2010, as well as exploring the themes set out in previous years' instalments of the documentary.
