The Grierson Trust today announced the shortlist for Grierson 2016: The British Documentary Awards. Eight documentaries are shortlisted in each of thirteen categories plus eight documentary presenters, including a number of nominations from across the Warner Bros Television Production UK group.

Wall to Wall's Victorian Bakers picks up a nomination for Best Historical Documentary for its second episode, and both Back In Time For The Weekend and Long Lost Family are shortlisted for Best Constructed Documentary Series.

The award for Documentary Presenter Of The Year, which is sponsored by the Warner Bros Television Production UK group, also sees Davina McCall nominated for fronting Wall to Wall's Long Lost Family.

The Grierson Trust commemorates the pioneering Scottish documentary maker John Grierson: the man widely regarded as the father of the documentary. Each year, The Trust celebrates the best documentary filmmaking from Britain and around the world with the British Documentary Awards - more fondly known as The Griersons - as well as encouraging young filmmakers through its outreach and education schemes. The final nominations will be announced on 20 September prior to the star-studded award ceremony and party at The Mermaid, London on November 7th
